The Tow and Recovery Alliance of Canada was formed to establish ethical and other standards for the members of the towing industry in Canada, and to encourage members to comply with those standards. TRAC was founded at the I-CAR Collision Repair Conference in 1998.

To conduct analytical and other studies on behalf of the towing and recovery industry and use the results of such studies for the improvement of service to the motoring public and to improve public perception of the industry.
To produce, publish and distribute publications of all types to provide information to both members of the industry and others with regard to the industry, its ethical and other standards, the education and training programs being offered and all other matters directly or indirectly related to it members and the tow and recovery industry in general.
